Announcement of Visa Exemption to enter Myanmar

Terms and Conditions for the Tourists from Japan, South Korea and Special Administrative Regions of PRC (Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR) for Visa Exemption

  1. Tourists from Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR Passport holders are allowed Tourist Visa Exemption Pilot Scheme, starting from 1st October 2018 to 30th September 2019.
  2. They are allowed to enter Myanmar through International Gateways such as Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport, Nay Pyi Taw International Airport and Yangon International Seaport as well as through Myanmar-Thailand Land Border Checkpoints such as Techileik, Myawaddy, Kawthaung. Htee Kee: Myanmar India Land Border Checkpoints such as Tamu and Rihkhawdar.
  3. It is allowed only Tourist Visa for the purpose of visit.
  4. Tourist Visa Exemption is allowed to Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR passport holders able to enter Myanmar and stay (30)days. It is not allowed for the visa extension.
  5. The passport holders from Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR for PRC-
  • must obey the Myanmar's existing law and procedures
  • can visit around the permitted areas freely except from the restricted areas within the country
  • can be rejected the entry permit if the tourist is not allowed by the immigration
  • can depart from any international gateways
Remarks: US$1000 in cash as 'show money' upon arrival will no longer need to display at the International Airports.

Visa on Arrival for China

Visa on Arrival (VOA) service to facilitate the passport holders of the People’s Republic of China who are eligible to apply visas at the immigration checkpoints on arrival for the purpose of tourism.

  1. Eligible passengers arriving in Myanmar via Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport and Nay Pyi Taw International Airport can apply Visa on Arrival (VOA). This takes effect starting on 1st October 2018.
  2. Visa fee in US$ 50 will be charged and the applicants are permitted to stay in Myanmar for 30days.
  3. This application from Visa on Arrival (VOA) in both English and Chinese version will be distributed either by airlines or can be obtained at Airport Immigration.
  4. Tourist visa is only applicable to package tour and FIT (Free Independent Traveler) and the extension of stay will not be entertained.
  5. Although the routine documents such as the recommendation letter from the travel agencies or any department are not required for the Visa on Arrival (VOA), however , the applicant is responsible to ensure that his/her purpose of entry is tourism only.
  6. All applicants with Visa on Arrival (VOA) from the People’s Republic of China shall-
  • be committed to strictly abide by the existing laws, rules, procedures, orders and directives issued by Myanmar Government;
  • be allowed to travel every part of the country apart from the restricted areas for foreigners without seeking prior permission;
  • have adequate cash for expenses for duration of stay (show money 1,000 US$);
  • abide by the final decision of the Visa on Arrival (VOA) Security and Issuing Team;
  • have confirmed return ticket within 30 days or have confirmed ticket to the third country and;
  • depart only through the international airports.
